Pain stood quietly on a shaded part near an alley way downtown. He had a joint stuck between his lips and his purple tinted glasses set low on his nose. He was watching people pass by quietly.
Really for him there hadn't been much to do since the gang had split up, though he did still have his shop and the business there was booming. He slide one of his hands into his hair, he was really hoping that no police would come around and bust him for smoking pot of the streets.
He remove the joint and let the air out through his nose, his nostrils flared, making him look like a raging bull, waiting to charge, he was waiting for something though.

Colby walked silently through the streets. She was mostly ignored and unacknowledged as she looked for someone who might have a joint, an acid, any drug that might take her away from the world she exsisted in.
She caught a wiff of a familiar scent and followed it, writing as she went. She spotted the hippie-ish looking man and slowly approached and handed him her note. She didn't speak. She had not uttered a word since she was seven or eight years old. Her note read, Do you have another joint to spare? I only have four cents, a spare pencil, and some paper.

He looked at her and and then took the note, reading it over quietly and then giving her a look over slowly. Pain licked his bottom lip and then went into his pack pocket, pulling out a bag of joints and taking one out, he handed it to her. "It's for free." He told her quietly, giving her a grin and then a chuckle.

She scribbled a thank you and took the joint, then scampered off. Her physical appearance left much to be desired, she knew, and she didn't want her stench bothering him. Colby went to an alley-way near an abandoned lot that was often used by others for drug doing. She sat behind a dumpster and lit up the joint, then let the escape begin. She shut her eyes and relaxed.

He watched her and then walked into the alley way, he stuck the joint inbetween his lips again and then climbed up a fire escape and onto a roof. Pain from there on skipped from roof top to roof top, waiting for the girl to stop. He stopped when she did and peeked over the side of the roof, looking down at her quietly, watching her smoke her joint.

Colby lounged silently against a wall. On occassion she'd smile, the drug taking its affect on her. She'd open her mouth, as if to laugh, but no sound would come out of her mouth. It was the first time she appeared even remotely happy.

He pursed his lips slightly and tilted his head to the side. Pain changed into his dog form, a large dark brown, calm looking pitbull. Quickly he jumped off the side of the builiding near the alleyway but not her sight and then once he found it the right time he padded into the alley way and went behind the dumpster. Pain sat down a few feet away from her, staring at her with thoughtful brown eyes.

Colby stared at him. She reached foreward slowly and stroked his fur, unaware he was the man from earlier. Hey there, poochie...Where's your master? she asked it. One of Colby's special abilities was speech to animals.

He dragged himself closer to her and didn't answer, wondering if he should or not, maybe he could make this work for him. ... I don't have a master... Pain answered, his voice was different mentally, it was much calmer and thoughtful.

That's misfortunate. I can't take you home...My dad'd hurt you. Or my mom. They don't like animals. she apologized softly, inhaling more of her joint then letting it out. Her tone on the word hurt was very strong, with emphasize of warning. She hugged the dog. You're really warm.

Pain moved even closer to her and let his large head rest on her shoulder gently. I'm big, it'd be hard to hurt me... Does he hurt you? He nuzzled his wet nose gently into her neck, sniffing her, she smelt of drugs and some other things.

She nodded. All the time...I don't remember a day he doesn't hurt me...Humans don't listen. she told him softly. Colby was seven when the cops came with a warrent. They asked her questions, and because she'd recently had an outbreak in school, they didn't believe her 'lies.'

You could run away with me... He suggested quietly an moved from her, he laid down on the ground, his large head laying in her lap, his eyes staring up at her. I'd protect you... Find you somewhere to stay, i'd never leave your side...

Colby stared down at him. That was...Somewhat new. She shook her head. They'd find me, I'm sure...They usually do. If not one of their cronies.

He gave a low growl, his lips furling up into a harsh snarl. I'll eat them all. Pain growled out and then settled down quickly once again.
