Jareth gave a hiss and glared at her this time, he quickly reserved himself again. "Melody." He said softly. "You are using the wrong fork. That's the dinner fork, use the fork on far left when you are eating fish, use the small knife when cutting the fish. The salad fork is the fork on the far right, the smallest fork. When you eat your soup use the sppon that is near the knives, do not use the spoon near the glasses, that is your desert spoon." He told her, watching her as he cut his steak in a very relaxed manner, as he was supposed too.

Melody shrunk in her chair. She glanced around, and saw several women glaring at her. She swallowed the fish in her mouth and set it down, then went to use the right utensil, looking defeated in her seat. She ate silently, not looking up at Jareth. She'd felt her normally really high self esteem reach a low they weren't familiar with, and she felt her cheeks stinging with embarrassment. "Sorry..." she finally whispered again, looking on the verge of tears. "How do I go to the bathroom right?" she asked, wanting to excuse herself.

"Excuse yourself, get up from the table, push in your chair, bow your head to me slightly, arms at your side, and then you may leave to the bathroom." Jareth told her calmly and emotionlssly, looking up at her. "The bathroom is down that hall and it's the last door on the right." He gestured with his head where the hall was and waited for her to excuse herself. When she excused herself he would stand, watch her leave, and then seat himself again like all gentleman would when they dined with a female.

Melody nodded and mumbled an excuse me, stood, pushed her chair in, and then bowed her head with her arms more or less at her sides. She then made a quick-paced beeline for the bathrooms, slipping inside and sitting in once stall, using some toilet paper for a hankey. She was crying from the embarrassment. The whispers and gossip picked up after she left, everyone wondering who Jareth was with. Finally, another man, excused himself from his table and approached Jareth calmly. It was an elderly fellow who was respected deeply, even more so than the prince. He went by Sir Smith. He smiled at Jareth in greeting and bowed his head. "Hello, Sir Jareth," he greeted and straightened up. "My guests were wondering about your date- who is she, exactly? She looks like she is from a very well-off family, but appears to have the education and etiquette of a commoner...Is she of such heritage?" he asked. He, unlike most others, had no qualms with commoners. He was just surprised to see an aristocratic assassin such as Jareth escort a young woman from the, er, slums of sorts.

"Good afternoon, Sir Smith." Jareth stood when the man approached him, straghtening out his clothing to make himself look presentable, he bowed a little as well, not smiling, he never smiled. "Her name is Melody, she is a commoner, I bought her those clothes... She's beautiful though, isn't she?" He looked off in the direction of the bathroom before returning his gave to the older fellow. "She's only 17 years old, she doesn't know any better... But I thought she would've at least known about the war going on. I mean her aunt is Aveline Bloodlore..." Jareth trailed off, jaw tight.

Sir Smith. "Hm...Perhaps warring nations aren't of importance to her, and who her aunt is means absolutely nothing about knowledge of a current event. She is indeed fair; one of my guests pointed out she looks strikingly like she comes from the Riddle family- you know Sirius, however she looks a lot more like his younger brother, Gilbert. When she returns, may I make an inquiry about her heritage? Oh, also, I'll be having a ball of sorts in a matter of months. Invitations have yet to be sent out, but I know you are to recieve one...Would you like to RSVP?" he asked, hands holding one another in front of him and his body perfectly straight and stiff. Melody wiped her eyes in the mirror. Stupid war, she should've paid more attention to it. Which pirates were involved? She sniffled and looked at herself again. Her eyes were red and puffy, and she still wanted to cry, but she knew Jareth would get mad if she looked like she stood him up, or whatever they call that here. God, the aristocracy is so tricky- like Chess. And she'd never been good at Chess...Probably because she played with Izzy, and Izzy played like a pirate. Captain Nightshaft! That's the lead captain involved. But which country? She remembered it wasn't a country she'd been to...Or if they had, Gil hadn't liked it, because they hadn't returned to it...Damn it, she should at least know the country! She bit out a juicy curse and kicked the wall, and, her luck wold have it, a lady saw this and made a look like she'd kicked a baby. Melody scowled and bowed her head. "Sorry....My shoe didn't fit right," she said quickly but the woman clearly wasn't buying it, and she left. Melody groaned. "Damn it....Why does it have to happen to me? Fuck fuck fuck....I wonder what the aristocrats use for curse words...." she muttered. She'd be out in a few minutes.

Jareth almos glared at the old man, but he knew his place and he would not over step any lines. "Her father is Captain Gilbert Riddle, Sir Smith. I will allow her to elaborate further when she returns." He looked at the man, studying him with a keen eye, perhaps he was well-respected by most, but Jareth knew people in much higher positions than him. "I will be attending your ball, Sir Smith. I thank you for the invitation." The panther bowed but his eye contact never broke with the older man.

Melody returned finally, but almost bolted away when she saw yet another man at the table. She chewed on her tongue instead of grimacing, but it was clear she wasn't going to be happy after this. Sir Smith bowed to her, and she hesitantly did so, unsure if it was right or not. She felt her hairs pick up on her neck and she met his eyes. "Sir Jareth tells me that you are of the Riddle family," he said to her in a kind voice. Melody glanced at Jareth, then at the man, nodding slowly. "My biological dad is Gil," she answered slowly, looking at Jareth to make sure this was okay. He nodded and continued to question her. People were watching curiously. "Does this mean you are a pirate?" he asked, eyes on hers. she shook her head. "No, sir," she answered quietly. He hummed and looked her over silently for some indication of where she was from. "Then you are an...illetitimate?" he asked. She looked down at her shoes, then nodded. "Yes, Sir," she mumbled. Sir Smith smiled and patted her head. "I'll see you later, Sir Jareth. She seems very lovely," he told him and grinned a warm grin to him, before returning to his table. Melody waited for Jareth to scold her again.

He was completely silent throughtout this entire thing, face straight, he bowed to Sir Smith as he left and then stood up again. Jareth moved around to stand behing Melody, putting his hand on her back, he helped her into her seat, pushed it in and then took his seat. "You did fine that time." He told her blankly before he went back to eating and drinking his wine quietly, eyes on his food.

Melody nodded numbly and finished eating, then sat quietly, unsure what else to do in this place. She definitely wasn't fond of this place anymore...God, she felt like an idiot.

As soon as Jareth finished eating the waiter appeared and left with there dirty dishes. Jareth stood, pushed in his chair, walked around the table and pulled her seat out for her. When she stood he pushed the chair back in and then wrapped his arm loosely around her waist, leading her to the front door. He stopped at the front desk and paid his bill before walking out of there. It was now dark outside and the streets were lit up with the warm glow from houses and business' along with lanterns that were hung up around the area. "I'm taking you to my house so you can change back into your other clothes before going home, unless you'd like to sleep there tonight." Jareth said, voice very low, he didn't look at her, still keeping his cool.

Melody followed his lead silently, keeping her gaze averted. She knew she was probably going to cry again that night, she could just sense it. But he offered her his home to stay the night at. "Uh...I'd...like to stay over," she answered slowly, glancing up at him from under her lashes, then back down. She knew her mom wouldn't mind if she was gone for the night- Izzy would give her the heads up since they didn't like to wear out Crow.

"Fine." He replied, looking down at her for a moment and then away again, he was completely silent. They reached his house finally and he lead her inside, he left her at the door for a moment and went inside to turn on all of his lights, the house soon was overtaken by a warm golden glow. He went around and opened up all of the windows and drapes, allowing the warm breeze in. Jareth motioned for Melody to come in as he started to remove his tie and return his hair back normal.

Melody waited silently, staring at the porch under her feet. She walked in when he motioned her to and shut the door behind her, hesitantly taking her shoes off and setting them by the door. She stayed crouched there for a moment, thinking, before she finally stood and walked over to him.

Jareth was unbuttoning his dress shirt when she walked over to him, he watched her, looking her over in her dress. "You embarassed me tonight." He said as he pulled off the shirt and dropped it onto the ground, he then pulled off the black t-shirt he'd been wearing beneath it. "I thought you would've at least known proper dinner etiquette." The man gave her a glare, stepping closer, his naked chest in her face.
