Joseph stared at her drunken form and frowned. He followed after her. Melody was still talking to herself as they headed to their room. He had to share a room with her...ugh. She was so chatty and whiny and...A variety of other colorful words.

The woman tried to walk as straight as possible but sort of wandered off to the side every now and then, unable to balance herself properly. She stopped a little short of a door and backed up a bit, opening the door and looking inside, the room had one twin bed on each side, there was a single, empty trunk in there, for any belongings they might want to put in. "Yer stayin' in," she hiccoughed,"in... in... Here. If ye need anyfin' don't fuckin' come lookin' fer me... And don't bother the dam Cap'n." She instructed, trying to wave her finger at them but her hand was a little ways in the wrong direction and her eyelids were lowering, damn, she was wasted.

Joseph nodded. "Yes, Dez...Have a good evening," he said and disappeared into the room. Melody watched her go. "And so the drunken warrior made her way down the barren lands, sword in hand and bottle at lips, she realized she had a long ways to go...to get to her destination across the wooden desert," she narrated and then ducked into her room to hide.

FF - Next Morning
Bright an early, right as the sun was rising, Dez flung the door to their room open, the bang that resounded was like thunder. "Get up you lazy asses." She demanded loudly, totally hungover. "It's a sailing day, and you'll be fucking helping." She snapped and heard a laugh come from behind her as Fawkes stopped in the doorway and peered in. "Princess gets to work today." He purred, speaking about Melody.

Joseph sat up and got out of bed, heading towards the door to get out and get to work. Melody was slower, whining and grumbling about how the 'sun had barely risen.' She rubbed her amethyst eyes and trudged past Dez and Fawkes, her hair sticking up. She hadn't seen a hair brush though, so she'd fix it later.

Fawkes couldn't help it and he started laughing hard, loving how upset Melody was. "Awe, poor little princess doesn't wanna work today." He cooed mockingly at her and went to say more but Dez punched him in her shoulder hard. "Shut up." She demanded, trudging past him and up to the deck where the Captain was at the helm, his face still wasn visible, his hat tilted far over his eyes and a bandana around the lower portion of his face. He was randomly pointing at people, ordering them what to do and how to do it.

Melody scowled and muttered to herself about a "young man who mocked everyone, but then one day fell off a boat an got eaten by a tiger shark." It didn't comfort her very much though. It just made her grumpier. Joseph got on deck and waited to be told what to do.

The Captain's attention soon landed on his two new 'recruits' and he pointed at Melody. "Kitchen, my dear." He said softly, he couldn't have her getting hurt up there by all the big rough men and Dez. Now he trned a little to Joe, to try and show that he was looking at the man. "You can climb, can't you?" The Captain ask curiously.

Melody happily scampered down to the kitchen to help out, smiling in a friendly way as she entered. "Hi! The captain said I should work in here!" she chirped and waited for a task.
Joseph nodded. "Yes, Captain," he answered and glanced around, wondering where he would be climbing too, and what he was going to be doing.

The cook, the only man in the kitchen, an older black gentleman with short silver hair and stubbleman look at her. "Did he now..." He trailed, sizing her up a bit. "How 'bout you peel some veg, eh? Go wit' the otha gals jus' back there, they'll tell ya what you need ta do nex', child." The man was obviously Caribbean, he smiled, showing her large white teeth and pointed with a knife towards the back area, where a group of most likely teenage and young adult woman where, shattering loudly and giggling.
"See the sails, right over there? You climb the ratlines to the topsails, make sure nothings tangled up, walk along the wood of the masts if you need to. Ray's doing it too, if you need help, she'll help you... Right Ray?" The Captain asked and Dez muttered and nodded, motioning for Joseph to follow her to one side of the boat over to the ratlines. Once there she stood on the railing and then started climbing up, they'd be the only two on that sail.

Melody skipped over there and took a seat. "Hi! I'm Melody! I'm new," she rambled. "Um....I am here to peels the vegetables!" she added, looking nervous. "Um....yeah...So, um....yeah." Melody swallowed, blushing.
Joseph followed her up and kept his gaze on his shoes. Do. not. Look. At. her. he thought in a panic as they reached their landing and began doing as they were told. He would ask for help every so often when Dez moved quicker than him.

The girls stopped talking, there was about five or six of them, all quite young, the oldest one probably in her mid-twenties. "You're soooo pretty." One of the younger girls said and they all peered at Melody, complimenting her on her eyes and her hair. "Wow, very exotic, you are." Another said, looking at her eyes with interest. "Oh, here's a knife." They passed her a knife and a pile of vegetables, welcoming her into their circle already.
Dez watched him, making sure he wouldn't fall, if he looked uneasy about something she tried to slow down and stay a little closer. She seriously didn't want him to get injured under her watch, she knew the punishment if she allowed it. At the moment she was straddling the yard, which was the long piece of wood they could walk along if they didn't have to climb. She was tightening up so rope to some little metal rings silently, eyes focused on her hands.

Melody lit up and took the knife, complimenting them back on their appearances as well- they were all so young and friendly! This was wonderful! She peeled happily, nicking herself a few times but eventually she got the hang of peeling. She hadn't done it with a knife more than two or three times, so it took practice. "You're all so good at it!" she said with a grin, excited.
Joseph eventually got to where she was and looked at her a lot to follow her example. "So the weather is nice," he finally commented, wanting to make some small talk to fill the void. He could go without talking, but...Well, he wasn't used to non-chatty girls. It made him uncomfortable.

"Lot's of practice, love!" One of the earliar ones said, winking and peeling swiftly, tossing the piece of vegetable into the pot before grabbing another. They all started up in another whirl of happy chatter, agreeing or commenting about something, giggling about things and whatnot.
Her eyes moved up and she looked at him from under her long, dark, lashes, giving him a grey glare. "We're who knows how high up in the air and you're talking about the fuckin' weather?" Dez sneered. "Don't be an idiot, get back to work." She ordered, she wiggled backwards along the yard slowly, stopping once she found a loose rope.

Melody joined into the happiness eagerly, savoring this time since she'd been miserable all night, and still was. A girl next to her really was interested in hearing about her world, having never left this one. So Melody was telling her all about it, and about cars, and trains, and the pirates there and such. The girl seemed fascinated.
Joseph shut up and went back to work. Apparently Dez/Ray, whatever her name was, was a dude at heart who didn't like to babble. That was comforting, he supposed, since most of the girls in his life had been chatterers.
