I watched her leave the house from afar. Eagle-eyes can do that for ya. Padraic would be following her too, but I didn't want to risk a chance encounter with him. He might get the idea of taking me to his queen in his thick skull. It might not end well for him, but as much as he and I could be a fair fight, twelve or so court faerie guards would not do me any good. I noted the brownies and pixies that she passed. I memorized the spot quickly, because they'd probably be my next meal.

Padraic waited until the girl had left her home before he made his way into her room. He only did a quick sweep, trying to get a feel for her before he left once again. He knew that magic ran through her blood and he didn't know if anyone else in her family would be able to see him. Padraic wasn't in the to risk it. Once he left the room he circled the house once and caught the vibes from the rather violent creature the night before. Wondering why it was still in the area he made his way in that general direction.

I moved huskily from my perch in a tree. Making a hasty dummy out of a squirrel and some branches, I replicated my approximate aura as to take any magical followers off my trail. I masked my scent and aura with some skunk juice and moved to intercept the bus that was slowly approaching the girl.

When Padraic discovered the hastily made dummy all he could do was shake his head and wonder where he was going to go next. He didn't have anything to report back yet, and he couldn't follow the girl into school without being a distraction to her. Having her mad at him was not going to be beneifical. Still he followed after her, just for a short time.

School as usual was a drag. They kept trying to get me to absorb information that they knew was false. I'd gotten to the point where I refused to accept anything they said unless it was verified by a source I knew to be true.

I watched the girl with interest as she lolled about her class. I'm no mind-reader, but it seemed to me that she didn't want to be where she was. Considering that thought again, I had an idea. If she didn't want to be in class, I could give her an opportunity out of it... so I could tell her more about Padriac. Maybe she could tell me what she knew about the recent happenings of the faerie kingdom as well. I haven't done that well at keeping up with current times... It was decided. I would get her attention and get her out of class.
I sneaked under the window sill and crushed and orange I had found on the ground nearby in my paw. The juice started to run, and I coated my finger in it. Come outside, I wrote on the window in fae.

A sudden movement at the window drew my attention. It was the badger person from last night. He'd wanted me to come outside; he'd written it on the window in the language of the Fey. "Mrs. Brooks," I asked, "I don't feel very good. Can I go to the nurse?" "Alright, Leila. But I expect for you to turn in your work tomorrow." I slipped out of the classroom and outside. "What are you doing?" I hissed. "If anybody sees you... If anybody sees me with you..." I left it to his imagination.

"Yeah, yeah, good morning to you too," I replied. "Look, I figure that firstly, if I ever use my chameleon genes to their full potential, I could hide that way. Secondly, If anyone were to spot me despite that, I could always get the jack outta Dodge like a cheetah. Thirdly, and most importantly, if anyone saw a man-sized badger walking around, they'd think they were crazy. As for the other fey, I've covered my tracks sufficiently enough, I think. Now I have some important things you need to know for your own protection. Come with me and we'll talk someplace safer, yahh?" I licked the juice off my paw. That was a damn good orange.

"Okay..." I looked at him. He could, and would, trick me, this I knew, but for the time being, his intentions were honest. "Where exactly are you planning to take me?"

"You'll see," I said. I reached out my hand. "We could get there two ways. You could run, and I will trot beside you and we'll get there in the evening. Or I could give you a piggy-back ride all the way there. Your choice."
((I just tried to imagine how the words 'piggy-back ride' would translate into fey, and I almost busted up in the middle of the library. Lol.))

"Fine," I grumped. I dropped down on all fours and started lazing to the tree line. "Follow me. And do try to keep up, won't you?"

"Fine." I huffed. Honest or not, he was doing nothing to stay on my good side.
