Assesomg his surrounding, Ace thought to himself drly, "Look at the masses, wandering like herds. So innocent, so ignorant, so vulnerable." Lifting his leg over and off of his black chrome motorcycle, he removed his mathcing motorcycle helmet, placing it on the back of the motorcycle. Taking a few steps back , he shrounded himself in the shadows of the ally, just as he had done so many times before. Easily making his way up the nearby ally firescape, he agilely scaled the side of the building and made his way to the rooftop adjascent to the Venus club. Kneeling down, he pulled his favorite sniper dun he'd nicknamed grim out of his backpack, taking one bullet from his back pocket and loading the gun. Steadying the sniper gun, he set it down on the roof of the building, lying belly-down to improve his accuracy. Scanning the crowd for his victim, he whispered the latin prayers of his ancestors, just as he did every time he made a kill.

Nimh made her way through the crowd, eyes alit as the rythyms took her spirit high and made her want to dance. She weaved and waved with the crowd, smiling and dancing with whomever, not a care in the world as time flew by and colors blinded the memory-less child. She smiled and continued to dance regardless of how empty her head was.

His eyes deviating from his target for a moment, his gaze followed the movements of a young girl, curiosity momentarily filling his features. It was rare Ace ever encountuered anything that he felt worthy of taking notice of, much less spakring his curiosity. "Hmmm..." he mumbled, entertained by the carefree beauty. Refocusing his attention back to the task at hand, he alligned his sniper gun with that of his targets head. He always aimed between the eyes when he killed- a method he felt to be the most efficient. Not wanting to stall any longer, he pulled the trigger of the gun, hitting his target spot-on. Understanind one of the most important aspects of assasination was stealth, he siletly packed his sniper gun back into his backpack before sliding back down the firescape hidden in the shadows. He knew from experience he had abot a minute before anyone discovered the fate of his victim- which was more than enough. Pausing for a split second, Ace took a second glance at the intriguing girl, unexplicably drawn to her.

Nimh was still carefree up until screams ensued the area and then suddenly she was being bounced and pushed around like some inhuman ping-pong ball. Her odd eyes flashed around hectically for whatever was causing the disorder in the place, only to come face to face with a woman's face splattered with blood and brain particles as she tried to get around the only girl not moving. Nimh watched in curiousity as that women fled, and wondered how she'd gotten that stuff on her with childish curiousity. The club had evacuated so quickly that she only had to look once at the bloodied floor and limp body to understand what happened. She slowly, and pouted at the thought of leaving the wonderful music, left the building and went to her home behind an alley three streets down. She normally lived in her mouse form in a shoe on Barker and Ward street in the club district.

Intrigued by the young girls noncholance to the fact that a man had been murdered right in front of her, he considered the fact that it was either because she could not deduce the impact of such an immense concept as death or she had become desensitized to it from being around it so often. After making sure he was not being followed, he allowed his curiosity to get the best of him and followed the girl silently on foot.

Nimh hummed as she walked, dancing a bit to her own strange beat that no one else could understand. She was oblivious to the man following her- he was so stealthy he went unnoticed. After walking three blocks, she made it to her alley-way and looked around to ensure no one would see, then stripped herself of her clothes and hid them in the brick wall beside the shoe she lived in, then shifted into her little brown mouse form and got into her shoe.
Inside her shoe it looked like a little house- she had a bed set up and a little box of food and some toys. SHe was a smart mouse. She curled up in her little Polly Pocket bed and pulled the blue piece of fabric over her, eyes staring at the entrance to her little home. SHe was reflecting on the death, wondering who had shot him and what he had done to deserve that way of death.

Following the peculiar girl into the alley, he was pleasantly surprised when she began stripping. Feeling no shame whatsoever in his actions, he felt a slight tingling in his pants as his eyes traced the curves of the beautiful girl. Suprised by his response, he stifled his natural reaction, having become a master at supressing his emotions as his occupation required. Curiosity soon replaced his supressed feelings of arousal as he witnessed the womam morph into a mouse and crawl into a little shoe. Once he was sure she was asleep, he stealithy approached her humble abode. Gazing down at the mouse, he wondered to himself amusedly how lucky she must be not to have become an appetizer for one of the many stray cats in the area. Reflecting on the possibility of such ann occurence, it suddenly struck him as horribly tragic for such a beautiful creature to fall victim to such a simple death. Being as his line of work was what it was, Ace had never been particularly fazed by the aspect of death- which was most likely why it struck him as odd that he be concerned with how death found her. Picking the shoe up carefully, he made sure to not wake the mouse as he carried the shoe with him 8 blocks until he reached his high class, chrome covered condominium. Once inside, he carefully set the shoe down in his guest bedroom and locked the door behind him, not wanting her to find some of the tools he used for his job that would scare the hell out of anyone with even the slightest self-presevation instincts. Entering the room adjascent to the guest room, he took a seat in his black leather chair and lit a cigarette, staring at the monitor linked to the camera he''d hidden in his guest bedroom. He'd hidden a camera in every room of his house and the outside hallway a few years back for safety reasons, though he'd never been put into a position where he'd had to use them. Blowing a whiff of smoke out from his lips, he carefully removed his leather gloves, wondering how long it would take his unexpected guest to wake up.

Nimh finally awoke after three hours- she never really slept long. The little mouse crawled out of the shoe and squeaked in suprise to find it in a room, and not in her alley. Confused, she climbed down the shoe and walked around slowly, sniffing and exploring. She squeaked again and went to the door, her size giving her aide in squeezing out of the bottom crack. Nimh ran up and down the hallway, sniffing and occasionally pausing at a sound she heard. She squeaked again and followed the hallway until she ran into the kitchen. She didn't know who or what was home, so she morphed into her naked human form and went to the fridge and stole something no one would think about much if it went missing- an apple. She ate it quickly then threw it away. Nimh morphed back and fled the scene, still exploring. She paused in front of the door adjacent to the one she'd crawled under. Her ears, surprisingly big for a mouse, twitched as she tried to listen for anyone. Her nose twitched and she decided to crawl under the door and examine this room as well.

Somehow Ace had been careless and allowed Nimh to move about his house unnoticed. Still believing she was slumbering in the shoe, he sat silently in the black leather chair, smoking his cigarette and cleaning his sniping gun. Every time he used one of his guns, he wiped his fingerprints on it clean. Years ago when he had first rented this condo, he had provided the landlord with a false name, further securing his identity. He always wore leather gloves (except when cleaning his guns and sharpening his knives) to prevent leaving fingerprints. Rolling up the sleeves of his black sweater, he revealed on the inside of his right arm a tattoo. Black and about the size of his fist, he had gotten the tatto as a sign of his loyalty to the cult when he had first joined. Every member had one, although his was specially tailored to indicate his rank. This was most definately Ace's favorite room in the house- filled with his favorite guns and throwing knives. The high tech monitors providing surveilence in every part of his house made him feel at ease.

Nimh looked around the room, shocked a thte amound of guns and knives and survellance in the one room. She saw the man in the chair polishing a gun and stealithily moved through the shadows to examine more of the room without him noticing. SHe climbed up to sit atop his bed for a moment, looking around silently, beforing going to the black leather gloves and sniffing them, then fleeing away to the floor once more. SHe noted that one survellance TV had the room with her home in it, and she shuddered at the thought. Had he noticed her shifting naked? Her ears fell back at that idea and she started to clean herself- she was under his bed as she did so, hidden by a shadow for the most part. Her little tail was sticking out a bit, but it could pass as a hair or thread.

Silently, Ace continued polishing his gun as he pretended not to notice Nimh's prescence in the room. His first instincts when he had noticed Nihm in the room had been to corner her and demand she morph into her human form in order to make communication easier. However, after assessing the situation more thoroughly, Ace decided instead to avoid scaring the beautiful girl and instead act as if he was oblivious to her prescence. Now, however, with her under his bed, he felt he had no other option. Grabbing her by the tail, he silently lifted the mouse off the floor so that she was at eye level with him in one swift motion. Careful not to hut her, he lifted his right hand up to provide her with a platform to stand on. "As a gues in my house, I expect you to be polite." he informed her, his voice monotone.

She squeaked loudly as he grabbed her tail, struggling for him to let go and struggling to escape. SHe continued to squeak until he set her down in his hand with body shaking something fierce. Nimh looked ukp at him as he spoke, big ears going up and twitching, and her odd eyes meeting his. SHe squeaked, tilting her head to the side. Guest? She didn't want to be a guest here! SHe didn't even know this weirdo. He's mouse-napped her! She started to squeak at him as if she were talking, but it came out in squeaks. She pointed at him a few times, indicating she was upset with him about something.

Amused by the noises comming from the small mouse, he chuckled softly, placing his cigarette in the ash tray so that he could speak more clearly. "It was for your own protection. We wouldn't want you to end up like the man in the bar, now would we?"

She stopped squeaking for a moment. THe man understood mouse? Or was he just a good guesser? Nimh shook her head at herself, not too concerned about that right now and started squeaking again, this time about how she could take care of herself and she's avoided cats before and that was just too intrusive of him to assume she needed protection. She squeaked and continued pointing at him, ears twitching and nose and tail twitching something fierce to make points. It was during this time that the latter of his statement sunk in, and she grew silent, staring up at him with wide eyes. SHe squeaked in mouse, did you kill that man?

"No." he said simply. "I didn't kill that man, Grim did." Amused rather than annoyed by her fiesty nature, he pondered to himself whether or not she was the fighting type. *I guess I'll find out soon enough* he thought eagerly.
