Making her way slowly further into the depths of the forest, Serenity enjoyed the silence of nature as she watched the sun dissappear behind the trees and set in the west. This was how Serenity spent most of her time- alone. She wasn't a loner per say, but she did enjoy the solitude that allowed her to be alone with her thoughts and reflect on the world around her. She often wondered through the woods, and today felt her sense of curiosity tempting her to take a new path. Giving in, Serenity stared down one of the few trails unknown to her in theese woods, unafraid of not being able to find her way back. After wandering for about an hour on the trail, Serenity was shocked to come upon an unfamiliar an unexpected sight. Standing before here, clear as day, Serenity saw a regal, lavish mansion, hidden deep within the forest. Cautiously walking up to the building, Serenity peered into one of the windows, looking for any signs of life. *Maybe its been abandoned* she thought to herself sadly. Moving to the front of the house, Serenity paused before turning the handle of the front door.

Chino was in the tower of this mansion writing away. He was working on a new story, and suddenly felt a presence. He got up, and wlaked over to window. He couldn't see anyone from the angle he was at, but he was sure that someone was there. He wlaked over to his desk, and put a book on his papers. He grabbed his set of keys, and wlaked out of the room. Before walking down the long flight of stairs he lokced his door. He smiled an nodded with appproval as he made sure the door was locked. He made his way donw the stairs and finally made it to the bottom. He heard someone jiggling the handle, and pnaicked. They were trying to get in whoever they were. He needed to do something to scare them off. He ran up to the door tyring desparatly to find something to do that will scare the person away. Or at least make them stop long enough he could get a good glimpse of who they were.

Hearing movement on the other side of the door, Serenity froze, listening intently. When she heard no one call out to see who she was, she figured a wild animal must have gotten into the abandoned mansion. Stifling her initial nerves caused by the noise on the other side of the door, Serenity slowly pushed open the door, stepping inside of the beautiful masion that seemed to have a forbidding mood about it.

Chino slapped the door shut, and saw that he had captured a girl. He opened his mouth to say something, but couldn't figure out anything to say at first. He looked away when he relaized he was staring, and said, "Wht are you doing here?"

Letting out a soft scream when she heard the door slamm behind her, she was paralyzed when she found herself face to face with someone who looked like he'd stepped right out of a gothic romance novel. Realizing he'd asker her a question, she responded in almost a whisper, "I saw the house and thought it was abandoned so I decided I would explore....do you live here?"

"Yes," he said blankly. He walked right pats her, and turned to face her after reaching the stairs. There was no particular reason he did this, but he didn't want to be standing near the door. "I must admit I was never one to make my house look like anyone lived in it. It keeps people away most of the time." he said looking at her.

Peering up at him, she asked softly, "And why do you want to keep people away?" Going through in her head the many reasons someone would chose to seclude themself in the depths of a rarely explored forest and distance themself from contact with others, she realized the man standing before her must have suffered a horribly tragic past. Seeing the scar on his cheek, compassion mixed with curiosity filled her eyes as she wondered to herself how he had come to bear the scar.

He looked down for a second, and then back at her. "I haven't found reason to keep them here." Of course there was several reasons as to why he wanted to keep people away. He not have been a full-fledged vampire, but he was dangerous. He also lived a lot longer then anyone else so he didn't want anyone to suspect something. He also didn't like people for a few other reasons.

Unsure of whether to proceed or not, she cautiously questioned, "Well.....don't you ever get lonely?" Intrigued by the mysterious man, she was sure there was moreto the story than he was telling her, although she didn't want to press the subject.

"Of course." he stated. "When that happens I just have to learn to be lonely all over again and I do." he said. He did have his moments where he'd go crazy from how quiet the place is, but he always got through. It's normal.

After a moment of silence , she said, "Well, it doesn't have to be that way. You don't have to be alone." Reflecting on what he'd said, she added, "You know, someone once told me you only ever live within the hearts of others......what kind of life is one lived without the love of others, of family and friends?"

"A safe one." he answered. He heard what she was syaing by that quote, and he thought it was cute. He also didn't like it because it had a truthness to it. He didn't want to believe it.

Swallowing, she realized exactly where he was comming from. In truth, she'd been tempted to isolate herself from the rest of society and live exactly as he had. What happened to make him so afraid, she thought to herself sadly. Taking a step towards him, she suddenly felt obligated to help him, to take him out of his dark masion and show him that the real world wan't all pain, but also bliss. "You should come outside and join me on my hike." she said hopefully, figuring at least if they stayed in the forest they would still be in his comfort zone.

"I do not think now in particular would be a good time." he said. "I would much rather go in the evening, if that is alright with you." He had kept the house veyr dark, and wasn't to use to the light. He didn't want to cause any inconvenience.

"Ok...." she said dissapointedly, not wanting to leave but not knowing what else to say. "What If I came by tomorrow at midnight- that way its still dark out yet we'll have the moonlight to guide us?"she asked.
