The spring day was bustling with activity. The yard was packed full of her mother's debutaunt guest, they're slick hairdu's and glittering dresses making Fayte feel as if she were at a ball for a king or someone else of great importance and surely not herself.
When her mother had said she was going to throw her a birthday party Fayte had begged that it be kept small, but of course her mother's idea of small was in no way similiar to her own.
She watched the perfect bodies mingling, they're polished nails and carefully done face screaming at her. Fake!
But, if these were the type of people that would come for her, then what was she?
Oh, she was a fake alright. Just not in the same sense.
Heaving a sigh Fayte turned from the crowd, leaving the large manicured lawn to walk around the back of the mansion to a small veranda in the distance.
She glanced down at her pink dress. It itched.
Hissing, she pulled at it, wishing that it were longer and not so tight. How she hated that her mother always tried to dress her up like a doll.
There was even a damn bow in her hair.
With a sigh she leaned her face against the chill wood of the veranda, her eyes on the sky above.
Night would be falling soon....

Ace sighed, lifting his hands to his collar and flattening the creases. God, he despised get togethers like this- full of a bunch of people basing their personal value and status on the opinions of others. The only reason he was even here was to case the place- his boss had warned him that he might have an execution to complete here in the near future. Besides, no one really asked questions at parties like these- and if they did aske who you knew, all you had to do was drop a random name. People were too scared to look like idiots to admit they didn't know who you were talking about. Sighing, Ace reached into his pants pocket and pulled out a cigarette and his lighter, lighting up quickly as he made his way to the back of the house. He wanted to see exactly how many windows this place had, and if there were any buildings nearby that offered adequate vantage points for sniping. Ace stiffened as he spotted a girl leaning against the veranda, cursing under his breath. As far as he could tell, she was human- he could smel it. She'd be pretty easy to kill if she asked too many questions, but he didn't want to draw attention to this area since he might have a hit here that would already create enough suspicion. Besides, he was wearing a new suit and if she struggled too much, she might ruin it with her blood. Clearing his throat, Ace alerted the woman of his presence, hoping she'd get spooked and retreat to the front of the house- he tended to have that affect on people.

Fayte jumped slightly as she heard someone approach behind her. Thinking that it was her mother comming to drag her back to the party she sighed deep, turning her head to find herself staring in awe at not her mother, but a man who she had never seen before.
The first thing she noticed was the black clothing, then the cigarette hanging from his full lips, then the incredible green eyes staring back at her.
Fayte felt the blush creep up her neck at having been caught staring and quickly averted her gaze. She stood up to leave the veranda then paused, a sudden sense of territoral anger filling her.
This was HER home. What right did he have to intimidate her into leaving.
Forcing her most blank exspression to her face Fayte turned to him. "Can I help you with something? I don't think I recognize you, and I know how flamboyant my mother is with her guest list, but I should think i would have at least saw you before. It IS my birthday after all."
