Not many people know me that well. It's not that I'm shy or not very much of a people person. It's probably do to the fact that I have a secret that I must protect at all costs. Don't worry. It's not that bad. It's nothing illegal...or atleast I don't think it is. It's just not that smart to say "Hey, I can control water with my mind". That's not really the best conversation starter in the world.
So yes, I can control water with my mind. No, I'm not insane. I can actually move and manipulate the water. Everyone in my family can, well except, I'm kind of special. My parents and brothers control earth where I can control water. My dad kind of thought my mom had an affair when I started developing my powers. The elementalist council just says that there had once been a water elemental in my family, a long, long, long, long, long... (you get the point) time ago and that it had gone all the way through my heritage before hitting me full force in the face. Let me tell you, it's not easy being in a family of aggressive earth elementals. My little brothers used to always pour sand in my baths and mess with my water using so that it would turn into mud.
I may be a little insane to have joined the swim team at my school, but I couldn't escape the siren song it had over me. I always have to watch the time to make sure I don't swim too fast. It's kind of easy to lose yourself in the water, and you can go a lot faster when you can get the water to push you instead of swimming at all.
I pull myself out of the pool, having completed my back stroke. Oops, I accidently got a state time in the first meet of the season. I pretended to be tired as I sat on the bench and cheered for my team mates, while manily enjoying the late sept. sun before it went away.

I watch the new girl get out of the water from the stands.
I wish I could swim, I think to myself. I know I shouldn't try, though. Being coordinated enough to walk in this new form is challenge enough for me.
She got first place, I think as I rise from the stands. The meet was over. I should go talk to her.

I laughed when one of my team mates joked that I was half fish. "Yay, right. I wish. Then I could stay in the water all day without turning into a prune." I said, causing my team mates to laugh even louder. "I'm going to do a cool down lap before showering, k?" I said, taking of my swim cap. They were painful and the worst part of being on the team. I dived off of the block and floated, before going into a lazy breast, feeling the water brush through my hair and fingers. Cold water was a lot better to swim in then warm water. That way, you could feel how the water moved easier.

I stepped down from the bleachers and saw the fast girl joking with her friends. I waited politely, but she must not have noticed me, because she jumped back into the pool and swam some more. After watching boredly a little while longer, I decided to wait for her outside of the locker room. Maybe she won't have so much on her mind then...

I spent an extra hour in the pool when I only wanted ten minutes. Oops. I showered slowly, not knowing anyone was waiting for me. The pool was manily empty by the time I got out.

Where is she? I wondered. I hope she hurries up... I turned on my iPod and cranked it to as loud as it would go. Ooooh... Don't Stop Me Now... Queen is so boss... I love my iPod. It's blue, and sleek, and has only the best songs on it. And mom got it for me... I frowned. I don't like thinking about her. My family is insanely, filthy rich. They got it from stealing from people and doing con jobs. I didn’t like that, so I ran away. Well that did NOT go as well as I had planned. Now I’m broke and homeless… I’m going to school in this new town, and I just want to meet the star of the swim team. Just my luck… Of course she would take all day…

I grab my duffel bag and throw it over my shoulder. I brush the towel threw my hair as I walk out of the locker room, which jostled my glasses, which fell on the ground. I bent to pick them up.

Getting impatient, I decided to stick my head in the door of the locker room, changing my face, hair, and voice to that of another swim team members'.
"Florence!" I said in the girl's voice. "What is taking you so long? There is a very cute boy waiting for you out here!"

"Nancy?" I asked, going up behind her. "What are you doing?" I asked, tapping her on her shoulder.

"Uh..." I said, thinking fast, "Oh, I was just looking for you! There is this cute boy waiting for you outside! Why don't you get freshened up? I'll distract him for you while you get ready!" Then, without waiting for a response, I ran out of the locker room, shifting back to my favored form; a blond teen human boy.

"I'm...I'm all ready freshened up." Who the heck says 'freshen up'? "Why the heck would I want to meet a cute boy?" I yelled after her. Nancy has officially gone insane. I walk away then to the exit, noticing the boy Nancy was talking about.

I ran into a bench on my way out, but I didn't mind. I had to look like I'd been sitting there for an hour. Finally, she came out of the locker room, looking for somebody (obviously me) (I hope). "Florence!" I said, standing. "Excuse me, Florence? Over here."

"Oh, hi." I said, looking around. I was trapped alone with him. I looked at him, trying to see if I recognized him.

“Excuse me… I’m, uh, my name, uh…” I checked the ID in my wallet. “I’m Roland. I sit next to you in math class, remember? Or maybe not, since you sleep in that class so much.” I stuck out my hand to shake.

"You don't seem to even know your own name, yet you know mine?" I asked. "Ok, never ,um, I kinda have to um, get out of here."
