"Look, Stephen, I'm sorry. I know your angry and all, and I'm definately taking a rain check on this, but things have suddenly gotten a hell of a lot more complicated. I'm sorry I dragged you into all this.." he said, a worried look crossing his face as if, for the first time, he was contemplating the possibility that they might not be able to make it out of this alive.
"Yes." Nicholas responded, his smile widening at her recognition of his as the same species. "As are you." he observed, obviously pleased with the fact. "Your are newly transitioned, correct?" he asked, sensing her unfamiliarity and judging by her lack of agility on the mountain that she couldn't be over a year old (as far as being an elf went). "How did it happen?" he asked, knowing it was very rare for someone to be transformed into an elf instead of born as one. He knew the only way you could be turned into an elf was if you came in contact with a hyrbrid that was both vampire and elf- a vampire so he could bite her and trigger the transition, and elf in order to pass on the genetics.

"It's fine," she muttered, sighing guiltily a second later. "Rain check it is then..." Stephen wiped her eyes and looked at him. "So what's going on?"
Caryssa shifted uncomfortably. "I'm not sure if my answer would cause trouble or not..." she mumbled. "I am newly transitioned- just a few weeks old. How old are you?"

"My brother has an appointment with the big guy up there, so to speak." he said, laughing anxiously. It wasn't god he was reffering to, it was destiny. The three of them had been trying to escape the destiny Aynon had been marked with at birth since there teenage years. That's why there mother had chosen for the three of them to live in a place like this, out in the middle of the forest. They had been running- running for years. Looks like there was nowhere else to run. Damon tightened his grip on the steering wheel, his knuckles going white as he tried to figure out how they were going to get out of this.
"I am one of the oldest members of the elven democracy." Nicholas replied proudly. "I have been a member of the elevn race for centuries. You would do well to exist among your people, instead of this..." he looked around for a second, as if trying to find the right words, "mismatched pool of muts and half-breeds."
Pacing back and forth throughout the kitchen, Aynon ran a hand through his hair. "You know what to do if-" "Its not going to come to that." Hayven reasurred his brother, crease lines that looked wrong on his normally carefree face distorting his features. "Aynon, we won't let it. We can leave." "And go where, Hayven. There's nowhere else to run, we're surrounded by enemies. Zhadist, and his people on one side, and them on the other..."

Stephen blinked in confusion. "God?" she asked, still confused. "Why would he have an appointment with him? He exists?" She scratched her head in confusion.
Caryssa stared at him; was he serious? "I like it here though." she mumbled and started to stand, coughing. Her cold was definitely not going to let her not look pathetic. She wished Aynon was up here...Or something.

"Not god, destiny." he explained, almost laughing at her initial assumption. "Yeah, were pretty much all atheists here, so were not big on the whole believing in god thing." he said, trying to avoid completely answering her question until he got permission from Aynon. Besides, telling her as much might endanger her even more, pulling her even deeper into a world that she didn't belong in. "Listen.....I just want you to know, with whatever ends up happening and all, I'm glad I met you..." he said, wishing he were better at this whole sentimental thing.
"You only like it here because you don't know better." Nicholas informed her, confident as ever. "You appear to be ill, perhaps you should sit down. It doesn't appear as if...'they' take care of you very well here." he said, 'they' obviously meaning Aynon.

"I'm glad I met you too, and what is his destiny?" she asked, getting uncomfortable with all this new information.
"They do. I went out in the rain too long, and as a human I was always sickly," she commented and crossed her arms. "How long are you staying here?" she asked. Colby turned in her sleep again and mumbled something inappropriate about her and hayven and a position.

He stiffened at the directness of her question. "Not what he wants.." was all Damon said, hoping she'd take the hint and leave well enough alone.
"Until Aynon allows me to return with him." Nicholas said. "Do you harbor feelings for the man?" Nicholas asked, his question plain and blunt, with perhaps a hint of jealousy.

"Well, what is it?" she asked. "What are me, Caryssa, and Colby dealing with here, huh? Cause if destiny is coming for Aynon, something is probably going to happen to us to if we're around him."
"It's none of your business if I harbor anything for Aynon," she answered, frowning. "Return to where with him?" she asked, feeling very uncomfortable. She coughed again and sat down. Colby stirred for a second then settled.

"Yeah, well, I'm not gonna let anything happen to you, so don't worry about it." he said, knowing at least this was the truth.
"That is not your concern- unless, that is, you do indeed harbor feeelings for him." Nicholas said, raising an eyebrow at her.

Stephen shrugged. "I still will, but I'll stop asking questions," she said and looked out the window. "...You realize we both need to get laid to not be frustrated and stuff..." she commented to him, glancing to see his expression.
"It is my concern then," she said through clenched teeth. "Don't you have emotions? I mean...You're so cool.." She meant 'cool' as in 'calm and collected.' It freaked her out a bit, since she was used to emotional people.

"Yeah, but, frustration seems kind of minute in the face of death, doesn't it?" he asked, glancing at her. He wasn't sure if she grasped the gravity of the situation, and didn't expect her to if he didn't offer her an in depth explination on the situation- which he couldn't. "Are you quiet?" he suddenly asked, his mind already spinning.
"Of course I do." he said, tilting his head to the side. "I simply exercise enough self control to seperate personal matters such as emotion from things like this." he said, his face revealing nothing. "If you were to live among our kind, you would understand that emotions are a weakess, things that should be regarded as obstacles to overcome." he replied calmly. "You would do well to learn that." he said, obviously reffering to the feelings she seemed to harbor for Aynon. "Besides.." he said, a wry smile spreading across his lips, "You should redirect theese feelings of..'interest' towards someone who developing a relationship with wouldn't be so fatal."

"...Are you talking about Zhadist coming to kill us death, or destiny coming death?" she asked, wanting to know which death they were facing. "...And...I don't remember if I'm quiet. I haven't been laid in years."
"Why would any feelings for Aynon or a relationship- nevermind," she growled, sitting on the edge of the bed and coughing harshly. It sounded like before- when she had cancer. "I like feeling my feelings, so I wouldn't be interested in learning to overcome them." she informed him in a scratchy voice. She was very pale.

"Whichever comes first." he said in response to her death question. "And if you can be quiet, meet me tonight at the treehouse at midnight. You want to get rid of all your frustration? That's where its gonna happen if you want it." he said, looking strait ahead.
"You enjoy being out of control?" he asked, laughing mockingly. "Fine. But let me tell you something, I promise you that, if you allow yourself to harbor feelings for Aynon, it will end in tragedy. " he said, a dark expression crossing his face before returning to its regular state.

"I'll try," she mumbled. That was a good walk away from there, since the drive had been only 20 or so minutes. She sighed. "I'm guessing we're almost home now?"
She hardly heard what he said, she'd started to cough up such a fit. Colby sat up in a rush, sniffing. She bolted out of the bed and glanced at the elf in the doorway. "Who're you? How'd she contract Red Cold?" she asked, looking terrified. Red Cold was one of the few colds that an elf could contract, and it was deadly to all creatures who didn't have it treated immediately. It started with sneezes, coughing, but once the infected got a nosebleed or their ears bled, it was classified as Red Cold. Caryssa's nose had just started to bleed seconds before Colby had woken up, and she didn't want to get infected too. Red Cold wasn't highly contagious, but it was contagious enough to cause the to-be mother to worry. The only way to cure it was an injection of sorts.

"Yeah." he said, now feeling tense at the prospect of making love to her tonight. He drove the rest of the way in silence, arriving back at the house in about three minutes. Once they got inside, he made sure she went upstairs before going into the kitchen to figure out exactly how bad the situation was.
"Oh no." Nicholas sad, flattening himself against the wall farthest from Caryssa. "I have to get out of here." he said before bolting out the door and down the stairs. Walking in on the three men who seemed to be involved in some type of deep conversation in the kitchen, he interrupted them and said, "That girl, the one with the brown hair- she's got Red Cold." Aynon's face turned completely white as he bolted up the stairs and ran strait to Caryssa. Hayven was on Aynon's heels, latching onto Colby and ushering her out the door. Aynon placed his hand on Caryssa's forehead, spitting out curses the satin himself would cringe at. "What have i done, oh god, what have i done?" he said to himself, his voice filled with panic as he surveyed her condition. "I'm so sorry, Caryssa, oh go, I'm sorry. I'l fix this, I promise. I'll do whatever I have to." An odd look crossed his face as realization hit him hard. He knew what he had to do to save her, the onyl place he coudl take her to get help. "Its going to be okay." he said, his voice suddenly calm. "I promise you." he said, his eyes filled with undeniable love despite the unspoken words.
Meanwhile Hayven was in the hall, touching every part of Colby as if to make sure she was healthy. "Babe, are you alright?" he asked, his tone both worried and urgent. He kissed her on the forehead several times, and then the cheeks and finally the lips, praying to god that she was safe and healthy.
