Laela tugged her hoodie on over her arms, exhaling and making a OOF noise as she re-adjusted her pack once the hoodie was on. It was supposed to be rather stormy out over the next few days, so she was on the hunt for a warm place to stay- be it a homeless shelter or a home.
Her hiking boots quickly became darker in color as she trudged through the mud and wet- as much as she loved water, she didn't care for being cold or wet at night. She stopped outside one of the various restaurants or diners- whichever it was- and peaked inside, sighing. She'd used up most of her money last week to pay for some rash which still hadn't gone done. Not a big deal, she still had some medicine left to heal it up.
SHe found a bus-stop that was empty aside from the local litter. She grinned and shook herself, finding the dog-like movement to be enjoyable, then settled on the ground after clearing away some garbage. The thunder picked up outside, making her sigh. "Ugh...I need to find a job- and a cheap motel or something..." she muttered and hugged herself for more warmth. She'd dig through her back-pack for food in a moment or so.

Darreth felt as ever molecule in his body jolted back to awareness and sucked in a sharp intake of breath.
Damn it was always hell when he came out of...well, hell.
As he was finally made solid once again he looked up into the dark night, cringing as raindrops plowed down on him. Great. This was just what he needed. The one night he had managed to escape from hell it had to rain.
Well, so much for a happy time.
Straightening he began his walk to the bright orange neon glow of a dinner in the distance.

Laela had shifted so her back was in her lap, rummaging. She knew something had rolled out- from the sounds of it an old TUNA can that had any spare change she managed to find. "Aw, crud-monkies," she muttered as she finished her search for anything edible. She stood slowly, staggering from the pack as her feet found the straps then going to seak out the empty old can and any change that spilled out- if she had any. SHe was sure she had 21 cents in there...maybe less?
She kneltd down, her partially gloved hands patting the cement down. THe slight glow of the diner in the distance helped her to see where the can was, but not whether she was touching pebbles or dimes. She wished she could use her abilities, but she knew doing it in such a risky place was a bad idea, and chose immediately to not do something. She gave up aftger finally deeming the area change-free and headed for her tuna can, unaware, for now, of the man approaching the diner. She noticed a family of five leaving and caught up with them to see if they had any spare change.
Failing to get anything from them, she noticed the guy approaching the diner and walked over to him. "Hey, uh, sir, do you got any change?" she asked, looking up at him. Something about him seemed...familiar.

Darreth turned to the begger with a sneer but paused as he took in there apperance.
It was a young woman, most likely still in her teens. He allowed his gaze to take her in; from her worn sneakers to her raggid jeans, to her holy gloves and then her torn hoodie.
He allowed himself to look at her face and took a slight intake of breathe. She was beautiful. Her damn hair clung to her skin in unruly brown curles, but it was her lips that drew his attetion. Her full and soft lips that cuased an unexspected surge of desire to shoot through him.
Dragging his gaze away from her he dug into his pocket and pulled out a couple of twenties, handing them to her.

Laela grinned, then let it fall. "Um, thanks for that much and all, but just the change is good- I know you working folks work hard for your cash and stuff," she mumbled, her mind screaming at her for rejecting that much money and wanting just the change. She looked back up at him, trying to figure out where she knew him from, but coming up short on all ends.

Darreth frowned at her. Why the hell could he not stop looking at her face? What was it about her that drew him so much?
He grinned then. "I'll make a deal with you. Buy me dinner and we'll call it even?"

She scratched her head. "That's really weird, but sounds good with me," she agreed and went to move her things inside out of the wet and cold. She returned a few moments later, her large pack on her back. "So, we're eating in the diner, right?" she double checked- she didn't mind walking elsewhere, this place just happened to be the closest.

She grinned and gave him two thumbs up. "That's great with me!" she chirped and led the way inside, eyes alit with eagerness. Once inside, she wiped her boots off on the black WELCOME mat they had and sniffed herself- sometimes they kicked her out of places for smelling, but the rain seemed to have washed any smells off pretty well. They were seated and she took a window seat and set down her things beside her, taking her hoodie off too. Underneath the big, blue thing was a brown graphic t-shirt. She grinned at him, her dark brown curls sticking to her face since they were wet. "So....Thanks again!" she chirped happily, practically bouncing in her seat once the menus came and they could order some drinks. "...For letting me treat you, I mean, " she explained. Holy crow, he's handsome! she thought, grinning to herself as she examined him on the sly, appearing to be examining the other customers.

Darreth caught the sensations comming from her body easily and grinned; his own lust claiming him.
"Not a problem. So, are you traveling somewhere?"

"Wherever, really- I come and go a lot...It's not fun to stay in one place to long...I just got her a day ago or something. What about you?" she asked, reading the menu as she spoke, her blue eyes glittering happily at the selections.

Darreth paused before answering. "I guess you could call this a vacation for me. I'm usually constantly at work. It's good to get out sometimes."
He gazed at her, at her hungry eyes and torn cloths; and found himself unable to stop his question: "How long have you been homeless?"

"You're a nice vacationer than," she commented. Not that many weren't nice, she just happened to stumble across the lesser ones.
She made a slight face- her full lips twitching at the change of conversation. "A...Few years is all, no big deal or nothin'." she answered. "What do you do for a living?"

Darreth couldn't help the bitter laugh that slipped past his lips. "I guess you could call it inports."

She shuddered slightly. "You sound...thrilled about...that?" she tried to comprehend why he laughed that way. Her eyes read something on the menu and she grinned. "I'm totally gettin- Hey! If you don't eat it all, get a doggy bag!" she said, looking up at him in an excited, anxious way.
