Darreth smilled with a nod and handed her his plate, knowing she would want it as well; which is why he had delibertly not eaten it all.

She smiled and thanked him, suspecting he had not eaten much on purpose, and slid it into the bag as well. She got the waitress and used the money he'd handed her earlier to pay, and gave her a nice tip, and handed him the change. "Okay, I'm ready when you are," she said, sliding into her wet hoodie and putting her gloves back on.

"No, this was for you to keep." He said, putting the money back in her hand firmly.

She reluctantly took that too. "Okay...So aside from liking me, why're you being so dang kind?" she asked. Laela stood, shoving the back pack onto her back.

Darreth shrugged as they walked from the dinner. "Where I come from there isn't a lot of kindness going around. I guess I like to give it as much as possible when I'm not there." The strange thing was he cared nothing for kindness; so why was he trying so hard with this girl?

"Oh, okay...I guess that makes sense," she mumbled. "So...I guess you lead the way then."

Darreth nodded and began to search out a hotel, finding one a few blocks away. Walking to the front entracne he held the door open for her.

She walked in and waited for him, dripping wet again.

Darreth approach the man behind the counter and handed him the money for a single room, then turned back to Laela with the key. He led her to her room and handed the key over to her.
"Well.." He glanced around nervously. "It's was very nice to meet you."

She followed him and took the key. "Oh...Um...I'm not going to be seeing you anymore?" she asked, a bit saddened by that. He'd been so kind to her. She wished she could repay him without compromising herself. "How long am I staying in here?" she asked.

"You're set up for the week." Darreth said after a moments hesitation. He considered her other question, if she would see him again, then sighed. It was too dangerous to be around her, he shoudn't have even talked to her. If the hell hounds saw him conversing with a human they would use the knowledge to they're full advantage. "I'm sorry, but I'll be leaving for work tomorrow."

"A full week?" she echoed, eyes wide. She wanted to argue with him on that point, but didn't. "Well....wow, thanks," she said, scratching the back of her head. "I'm sorry I'm keeping you from enjoying your vacation- but what does one week entail?"

Darreth shifted nervously on his feet. "Uh...you know, the regular import business. Going out and gathering the vic-er, items and shipping them to whereever my mast-er..boss tells me to." Darreth laughed a bit uneasily then. "I'm sorry to have kept you waiting, I'll let you get a good nights rest now."

Laela nodded, not paying attention to his stammerings. "Yeah, well, okay...I'll be seeing you, I guess..." She turned and unlocked the room and went inside, pausing at the door. "Hey, ugh, If you ever wanna like...talk or something, or hang out on the streets or something, I'll probably be here for a few weeks or something..." She looked up at him. "Night, and thank you, for everything you've done for me tonight." She went inside and shut the door, leaving it unlocked in case he wanted to come back or something.
Inside the room was a typical singles room. She dropped her backpack onto the floor and stretched, then went to explore the bathroom. Laela stepped inside and stared in awe- she'd get to be here for a week too. Man, that man was nice. She sighed. That bites he has to work again...IT'd be neat to get to know him more she thought, frowning a moment later. Where have I seen him before though? SHe shrugged and stripped herself of her clothes, staring at her scrawny, filthy body in the full-body mirror. She wasn't as bad as some women were, that were homeless, but she was still pretty small. She shrugged and put the hot water on and got in, taking a nice, long hot shower and bathing every inch of her body. She used a pocket knife she had (after retrieving it) to shave some of the hair on her legs and armpits, getting a few knicks here and there, but otherwise not doing to bad for using a knife. She pampered herself for the first time in a long while, then got out and put on bathrobe the hotel provided the room and then curled up under the blankets, and crashed, the storm raging outside. It was now hailing outside...The storm was supposed to last three days. She was grateful to have a place to sleep those three days.

Darreth paused outside the door, the urge to enter almost unbearable.
He had lied to her; he wasn't going back to 'work' tomorrow. He was done with that life, he didn't take orders from anyone anymore; he refused to end another life, refused to see they're body drain of life and hope.
Disgusted with himself Darreth forced his steps away from the hotel room. She was too good, too pure. It only reminded him of how evil he truely was.
"It can never be." Darreth muttered to himself and began to walk the streets, sighing deep as hail began to plaster against his skin.
He wasn't sure why, but it seemed like Darreth knew the girl, Laela for some reason; and he wasn't sure why that thought wouldn't leave his mind.
