Melody looked around, mouth slightly open in awe. It was so beautiful! She followed Jareth to their table and was about to take out her chair when he did it. She blinked. Oh, right, they did that stuff here. She took her seat and looked at Jareth, head tilted to the side, then to everyone in the area. There were so many fancy looking people here, and she didn't know who any of them were. She moved a bit in her seat to look around, unaware of how embarrassing she must be. She finally looked back at Jareth. "How come they're all afraid of you?" she asked, eyes wide as she took in the culture.
A man who was extremely important and famous to...most people that were above the middle class, was watching their table with mild interest- in the girl, of course. He was known for his ability to be with exotic looking women and to get them to get undressed and into bed.

"Afraid of me?" He repeated, soundign a little surprised, he noticed her looking around and mentally scowled, outwardly he was as calm as a cucumber. "They're not afraid of me, they respect me, that's all." Jareth replied and his red eyes moved around the room and landed on the man that was staring at Melody, he watched blankly, bored, and then looked back at the teen. "You like this place?"

Melody blinked. "What do you do for a living that they respect you so much?" she asked, nodding at his other question. "It's nice..." She shifted in her seat, quietly slipping her feet out of her shoes. The man finally approached the table. "Hello, Sir Jareth, how are you this fine evening?" he asked, grinning at Jareth FIRST, then looking at Melody. He smiled at her. "And who is this fine young lady you have here with you? I don't believe we've ever met." Melody looked at Jareth, afraid to respond.

Jareth went to respond but the man interrupted, he felt th hairs on the back of his neck bristle, instead of getting angry he looked at the man, giving a nod of greeting. "Good afternoon, Sir Willhelm, I am well." He answered first of all, glancing at Lilly from the corner of his eyes when she didn't answer Willhelm, his jaw became tight. "This I Melody, my date for this evening. Melody, this is Sir Willhelm." Jareth introduced, voice crisp and clean.

Willhelm was definitely a looker, but Melody didn't know who he was still. Everyone was looking at their table. He took this as awe. "She's speechless, poor thing. Don't feel intimidated my dear, even under the given circumstances," he rambled to her boldly. Melody looked at Jareth, paling. Willhelm was the prince of an country, and that country was warring with pirates. Everyone knew about it and wanted to help out the prince- his country had a lot of connections to farms, oil, and jewels. Melody shook her head slowly. "I"m....sorry, S-sir Willhelm, but I dont' know who you are..." He stared at her for a long moment, before looking amused. "Ah, that's alright. Are you an princess from a rural island, then?" Because that's the only way he could explain how she didn't know about him. Unless she was a commoner...But Jareth had such good taste than to find a commoner! Melody stared at him. "No...." she answered slowly and looked at her lap, cheeks stinging. Sir Willhelm frowned and looked at Jareth, then at Melody. He looked at Jareth again. "What did you think of the strategy at the last battle?" he asked. It had been all over the gossip channels for the aristocracy. Melody's cheeks stung...She'd been awful.

Impossible. He couldn't elieve that she didn't know who Willhelm was. He felt embarassment rush through him as he watched the two, well one, conversate, he held in his anger and kept a straight face. Wasn't Melody related to a pirate?! Wasn't her biological father a Captain?! And for gods sakes she knew Aveline! Rage overtook him and he grabbed onto his legs tightly. "The last battle, ah yes," he started to talk about it, commenting about it lightly, holding himself together the best he could, "altogether it was quite fine I must say, i'm sure you'll win against them." Jareth finished off politely, giving a nod. He wondered how many people heard Willhelm and Melody when they spoke, he did a quick once over of the resturant, most likely everyone. She had embarassed him, they hadn't ven been there ten minutes and she'd already put his reputation o the line.

Sir Willhelm finished up his conversation and politely dismissed himself from the table. Melody felt stares on her, and a lot more on Jareth. She stared at her lap for a long time. "I-I'm sorry," she whispered, looking ready to cry. She knew she'd been an embarrassment, and she knew he was angry again...She didn't know how to remedy this situation at all though. She swallowed the bile in the back of her throat. She stared at the table, submissive to the stares and whispers going around. She'd heard of A war but only knew pirates were involved, and that was it.

"Look in my eyes when you are speaking to me." He whispered to her under his breath, he held the menu open in his hands, gazing at her from over top of it. "Put your shoes back on, now." Jareth said, the waiter got back to the table and poured them each some wine he left the bottle at Jareth's order and then left, he'd be back later to see what they would like to eat. "Sit up straight, fold your hands on your lap and only look at me. If you start speaking with someone else, the waiter, per chance, look right into his eyes and smile." The man instructed softly as he took a sip of wine, he was very angry, but if he stormed out of there then he'd be ruined, he had to show pride and backbone, he had to show everyone that he was still as refined and had as much prestige as ever. "Have a drink of wine and clam yourself down."

Melody looked up and picked up her menu, feeling shaky. She slid her shoes on and ignored how uncomfortable they were. She read through the menu silently, then just settled on the girliest thing she could find- salad. That was a safe food, right? She sat up straight and kept her eyes downcast...She was close to tears. She hesitantly sipped her wine. It helped a little, but her mind was swarming around what she'd done. "I'm sorry," she apologized again, looking into his eyes. She set the menu down and set her hands in her lap, folding them properly.

Jareth met her eyes, a muscle in his left cheek flexing a little, he helped back a glare. "As am I, but we can't take this back, can we?" He sighed, fixing himself ino a more upright position in his seat. She was seventeen, she was lower-class, he had to remember that. "You're just going to have to learn how to act like a proper young lady.. For now i'd like it if you wereto relax. I'm not... Upset." He let out a breath, closed his menu, set it down, and had another drink.

Melody nodded slowly. OF course she was...God forbid that happened again and she embarrassed him. Melody sipped her wine again, wishing it'd take affect and fully calm her nerves...It finally did after another three sips. She looked at her lap, then glanced around the place, then back at him. She felt like she should apologize again, but she didn't know what to say.

The waiter ame back and took their orders, after hearing what Melody was having Jareth ordered her the halibut, with salad, and on the side some crab bisque. He himself ordered the steak with a pasta salad and some garlic bread. Once the waiter had excused himself Jareth returned his gaze to Melody. "Tell me more about yourself, likes, dislikes, about your relatives or your friends..." He trailed off, he might as well learn about her and see what she enjoyed and what not.

Melody stared at him after he ordered for her. She sipped her wine again, then settled back. She looked up at him when he spoke, then glanced around. "I...I'm not sure where to start," she mumbled, afraid to speak at this point because she'd messed up already once.

"Melody," He started and then just stopped, she was upset, he could see that, he looked away from her, becoming silent. Jareth would leave her be, he'd let her relax, he didn't want to puther on the spot or anything, he guessed he'd have to learn about that stuff later. After ten minutes of silence the food arrived, it looked and smelt divine. "The woman always eats first when dining. When at a dinner party being held by a man that is married, his wife will begin the feast." Jareth told her and waited for her to start eating, he watched her hands, waiting to see which fork or spoon she used so he could correct her on it if she amde a mistake.

Melody blinked. "Lots of rules for everything, huh," she mumbled to herself and sat up straight and, naturally, reached for the biggest fork. She took a bite off food after he corrected her if he had to, and her eyes widened. She was unintentionally loud. "Yummy!" she exclaimed.
