Lilly stumbled out of the forest and onto the paved road. "Ow!" she groaned and lifted herself, brushing off the dirt. Her normally mangled, wild hair was groomed into a french braid, she had on some recently washed clothes (a button up shirt, a jacket, a skirt, stockings, and hiking boots), and on her back was a pack full of all of her belongings. She let out a soft sigh and began trudging up the road, looking for something called a 'truck.'
Lilly had spent her life in a very large pack with connections in the city, but she had never been. Her family had been the medicinal and spiritual group, and so they seldom strayed from the forest. Lilly sought to see places and learn more than how to heal the seriously injured or ill of a wolf pack. Also, with the way the pack was changing, it didn't appear to be safe for her family any longer- they would soon be at the bottom which would mean she would be only used for reproduction. Stupid wolf pack.
So she left her home and family to see the world and find a new place to stand. Lilly was seventeen. She had never 'seen' the outside world, but she had read enough books to know basic things. Roads, vehicles, and such. She had been given some money from friends before leaving. "Two hundred...I wonder what this will buy?" she mumbled while moving up the road.
Her pack had recently acquired new territory. It was an awful massacre, and she felt saddened that the territory dilemma had become an all out war. She didn't like watching people die- regardless of the side they were on. It felt wrong as a healer. She sighed softly to herself and glanced at the recently marked tree that used to belong to the other wolves. She stopped and stared up at it, eyes full of sorrow. "I'm so sorry," she whispered and bowed her head in respect. She wondered if anyone had buried the defeated, or if they had simply been left out to rot.
After one more moment of silence, she continued up the road.

There was a husky, manic laugh from behind the tree and a rustling as something moved around. "You're sorry, are you? Is that what you are?" There was another laugh, this time darker, angrier. "I think... You should apologize with your life."
There was another sound and then a wolf sprang out, mouth opened wide, blood dripping from its jowls, eyes alight with an intense madness.
It rammed into Lilly, dirt and blood from its own body messing up the females clothing. The wolf pressed its claws into hers shoulders, taking her to the ground and standing above her, more blood and saliva dripping from around its mouth and onto Lilly's face.
'How about that?! I think it's only fair that after your pack kills mine that I get to kill you...' The wolf spoke, body tense and eyes feral, nearly all humanity within it gone because of the wrath it was feeling.

Lilly turned in an instance and looked for the creature that spoke in fear. She let out a scream and tensed up, preparing to shift when it rammed her to the ground. She grunted at the feeling of claws digging into her flesh and clothes- her head hurt from smacking against the pavement. She looked up wide eyes and stared at the wolf that spoke to her.
One was still alive...And it was a child- someone her age even.
Lilly gulped and looked around for something to ward her off with- she couldn't shift with the backpack on. "I was...against the war...My family heals," she whispered, her mind putting on all sorts of red alerts. This child would probably not respond to words.
When a loud honking got her attention, Lilly abruptly moved and shoved the girl off of her and off the road, following as well. She then stumbled to the ground near her, but didn't dare stay long. Lilly tossed her pack off and shifted, picking it up in her teeth and bolting as far as she could from Cahira.

Cahira wasn't phased by Lilly's quick actions or the honking of the vehicle. She watched as Lilly went running and snarled, speeding after her quickly and pouncing, tackling the other creature and bitting into the back of her nack, taking her to the ground and holding her there, pinned.
Yes, she was small and young but she had a lot of strength, she was a hunter after all.
She pressed her clawed paw into Lilly's side roughly, pressing down hard. She didn't understand why Lilly had run, it only made Cahira want to kill her even more badly. The chase excited her so much her senses just went wild and she wanted to tear everything to shreds.
But, something was keeping her from killing this one right away, and in a fit of decided mercy she released Lilly and stepped back, turning into her human form.
Cahira crouched there, looking at Lilly, her hair wild, matted and dirty. There was blood all over her, but none of it was her own, there was even some blood dribbles dried on her tanned chin. She looked at the older girl, her eyes completely predatory.
"Running... That wasn't smart. You smell of fear... Like a rabbit, a rodent, you want to die?" She whispered, voice raspy as she leered at Lilly.

Lilly yelped and submitted almost instantly when Cahira bit into her. She trembled shamefully beneath the smaller, younger wolf. She kept her breathing even though and as soon as she was released, shifted back and scurried to her bag, pulling it in front of her protectively.
"No! I don't want to die! But I can't fight so I have to run!" she snapped. "I'm a healer! I don't fight, I find herbs and roots and fix serious injuries that could kill a wolf! I didn't kill your family- I was against the war! My family was watched at all times- we weren't allowed to see..." Lilly was crying in fear and distress. "I didn't kill...Please don't kill me...Please..."

Cahira watched, looking absolutely disgusted. "How can you call yourself a wolf? Look at you, absolutly pathetic. Couldn't fight to save your own, measly life, could you?" She sneered and moved closer to Lilly, grabbing the others face with her blood covered hands. "Crying like a pup, snivelling..." Her eyes darkened and for some reason she wiped a couple of Lilly's tears away before backing up and standing. "I... Won't kill you, I should, but I won't. Why bother, you had no use to them anyways, a healer..." She scoffed, grey eyes taunting and mocking.
"Where are you running to?" Cahira asked and then motioned for Lilly to stand, she found it pitiful the way the other was acting.

Lilly trembled when Cahira moved in closer. She had no experience in fighting- hell, she had had trouble learning how to hunt, let alone kill the prey once it was captured. She slowly stood and dusted herself off again, looking at the girl.
"I'm...going anywhere. Somewhere new to call home, I suppose," she replied. "I can't stay there anymore...My family is going to be lost- their way of life is- and we'll be at the bottom...I don't want to just be a breed machine," she explained softly. "I want to see the world too...Where are you going?" she asked. "Are you hurt?" Lilly's bruises were healing up just fine, so it wasn't a concern for her now. Nothing severe....This girl must really pity her.

"I have nowhere to go, and i'd never submit to the likes of your pack, i'd rather kill myself." She licked her teeth and then her lips, tasting the blood. "A breed machine... That's what you'd be good for though, what use is a healer? We heal ourselves, and any wolf stupid enough to get seriously injured deserves to die, that's life." Cahira's pack had been truly wild, they'd faught to the end, and taken many down with them.
Not a total loss, but she was still enraged. "You will wander alone, weak and helpless?" Cahira asked, when she calmed down her voice was actually rather smooth and soft. She really didn't know what to think of Lilly, but she felt no threat. "Your name, tell me it." She demanded, looking impatient.

"Well, in my pack, we didn't want to lose members to illness...But because my pack is modernizing, old healers are no longer of use. Magic is no longer useful there either...I do not want to be a stationary member," she said with a snort of indignation.
She looked at Cahira when she asked about being weak. "I'm not weak. I'm just not physically strong- I have a different strength than yours. Unfortunately it hasn't been nurtured like yours so clearly has," she said with a dry, humorless tone.
Lilly scowled at the impatience of the child. "Well, my name is Lilly. Do you have a name, or should I just call you bloody mess?" she asked and knelt over her pack. SHe pulled out something- a towel- and walked over slowly. "Can I clean off your face? If you look like this, I won't be able to hitch hike into the city."

"Clean me if you wish." Cahira spoke, not liking the tone of voice Lilly was using to speak to her. "Call me Cahira, now what is your age?" She sniffed a little, her nose wrinkling, she really hated the smell of Lilly's pack and she was still covered in it. "One who is not strong physically is weak, as are those with no intelligence or instinct." Cahira glared at Lilly, warning her against doing anything stupid.

"Those who can't control themselves long enough to determine a threat are also weak," she replied instantly while gently wiping Cahira's face, arms, hair, and..."Your clothes are filthy." She stared at Cahira and sighed. "I can't get a ride with you dressed like this- I'm seventeen. You're probably younger than me, judging by your size. Or is that malnourishment? Nonetheless, please change into these," she rambled and pulled out a baggy shirt and some shorts from her bag. "I don't have any shoes...but it doesn't look like you mind...How old are you? Where are you going?"

Cahira grabbed the clothes and sniffed them, she looked disgusted. "I'd watch my tone if I were you." She snapped suddenly, growling at Lilly in a very intimidating way. "I'm fifteen, and I have nowhere to go." She disappeared into the treeline for a moment and returned, dressed in the clothes Lilly had given her. But she still had her thin, tattered, and worn out military, green coat hanging over one arm. Cahira cradled it as if it were a young infant.

Lilly watched how she craddled the jacket and pulled out a plastic bag from her backpack. "Want to put it in here? My clothes...won't get their smell on them and this way you can keep it," she offered softly, looking saddened for Cahira. "Would you like to come with me, find a new home too?" she asked.

Cahira took the bag and carefully folded the jacket up, putting it into the bag and looking at Lilly blankly. This girl seemed alright, she was older and more aware than Cahira was, and apparently had some healing skills, though they seemed useless right now... "If... You wish for me to come than I will come." Besides, she had nothing anymore, her old life was over, she was the last of her pack. To hell with it all, she may as well go with Lilly, nothing better to do anyway.

"Well, I don't mind, but you have to do what I say," she replied instantly. "I mean, you can't be a wild child. You're gonna have to eventually get some sort of shoes..." She shrugged though and approached the side of the road, motioning for Cahira to follow. "C'mon, lets head this way. We're bound to find a way into the city anyways...Eventually..."
